Of Vassar, age 65, went home to the Lord, on Friday, December 4, 2009 at the home of her loving daughter Shannon and son in law Casey, in Ventura, California. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. ColetteAaas family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar, on Monday, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday from 11:00am to 2:00pm and 4:00pm to 8:00pm. On Tuesday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 7:00pm. On Wednesday morning, Colette will be taken to church where she will lie in state from10:00am until the time of Mass at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monastery of Poor Clares 3501 Rocky River Drive Cleveland, Ohio 44111-2998. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Colette was born January 8, 1944 in Lakewood, Ohio the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Milton and Dorothy (Boehm) Park. She and Thomas William McFarland were united in marriage January 27, 1968 in Lakewood, Ohio. Colette graduated from Magnificat High School and went on to attend Ursuline College in Cleveland where she graduated with a BS in Biochemistry in 1966. She went on to earn a Medical Technology Certification. Colette enjoyed being active at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church and Vassar Public Schools, in multiple activities. Colette leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 41 years Tom, four children, Scott and wife Beth (Bergdolt) McFarland, Shannon and husband Casey Culp, Shawn and wife Debbie McFarland, and Sheree and husband Pete Goers, 10 grandchildren, sister, Donna Miller, brothers Butch and wife Marie Park, George Park and Patty Perek, mother in law Mildred McFarland, sister in law Kathy Koster, and brother in law Tim and wife Donna McFarland, and many special nieces, nephews, friends, and her beloved dog Scarlet. She was preceded in death by her parents.
