I met Zonia fifty years ago at Swartz Creek Middle School. I remember hanging out at her Aunt Ruth's house in Swartz Creek. In the summer of 1976, when we turned 16, Zonia moved to Beecher and I moved to Lansing. Long distance calling was expensive then, and there was no social media, Facebook, no emails or cell phones, so Zonia and I wrote letters and mailed them to each other for 7-8 years. I didn't see her in person again until she was pregnant for Levi. Our friend Vicky and I threw a baby shower for her at Edith's house on Asylum St. where she was living at the time. For many years after that (decades) Zonia and I would get together a few times a year. She'd come to Lansing or I'd go to Flint. We took our kids to AutoWorld, Crossroads Village, Frankenmuth, on picnics and to the zoo. We loved going to yard sales and thrift store shopping. We went to a lot of concerts - we saw Gordon Lightfoot, the Judds, and the Temptations. We talked on the phone a lot. She was a steadfast friend, one that I could talk to about anything. Zonia - you will be missed, but never forgotten. Your friendship was a blessing.

Zonia was a lifelong friend and family member to me and my South Carolina family. She was the sweetest, kindest human being I have ever known. I never heard her say a negative word about anyone. I will miss our chats on FaceBook and her liking every single picture I would post. She always reminded me how much she loved and missed me and my family. She always ended our conversation with "I love you Hun"and I will love and miss her always! Thanks for the memories sweet lady. Corinne, Levi and family you are in our thoughts and prayers...love you

Zonia was the kindest, sweetest human being you will ever meet. I never heard her speak an ill word about anyone. When she loved you, she loved you with her whole heart. I will miss our FaceBook chats and her loving every picture I would post individually. She always ended our conversations with "I love you hun". I love you Zonia and will cherish our loving memories together!
