Josephine was born in North Hampton, Massachusetts, on September 27, 1933, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julian and Katherine (Soha) Woznicki. She met and married her 1st husband, Lyle Schermerhorn, in Massachusetts while he was in the Navy; their union would be blessed with four children. After some time, she met and married Paul Wallace. Sadly he preceded her in death on January 30, 1988. Josephine loved crocheting and crafting, watching crime shows on TV, dancing, flower gardening, especially daisies and sunflowers. Most of all, she loved being a mom. Josephine was known for having an immaculately clean home inside and out. She always had to have her afternoon tea and crumpets. Recently, Josephine loved talking to her children and would always end her conversations with "love you, bye for now."
Left to cherish her memory are two sons: William and husband, Gary Schermerhorn, James Schermerhorn; two daughters: Kathleen and husband, Mike Wauters, Jodie and husband, Ronald Nanni, Sr.; seven grandchildren: William Schermerhorn, Jr, Jeremy Schermerhorn, Michael Wauters, Nicholas Wauters, Ronald Nanni, Jr, Steven Nanni, Zachary Nanni;- several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul; and three brothers: Stephen, Benjamin, Michael.
