Obituary of Caldwell William Fleming
Age 76, of Grand Blanc, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021. A Memorial service will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 24, 2021, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Community in Goodrich, 7296 Gale Rd. Grand Blanc. In accordance with Cal's wishes, cremation will take place. Cal's family will be present to receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Community. Envelopes will be available at the church. Caldwell "Cal" was born in Joliet, Illinois, on October 27, 1944, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Caldwell and Stephanie Ann (Brenc) Fleming. Educated locally, Cal graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in Illinois with the class of 1962. After graduating, Cal would continue his education at the Illinois Institute of Technology; earning his Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Cal was a Fire Protection Engineer for an Insurance Company, FM Global until retiring in 2006. He married the love of his life, Sharon Soltman on March 5, 1983, on the beach in Florida. In his free time, Cal loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Cal was a faithful member of the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Community since 2014, and a long-time member of the Eagle Scouts. He enjoyed camping with the Eagle Scouts, golfing and fishing at the "Aligator Pond" in Florida, enjoyed traveling especially to Italy and Croatia. He also enjoyed collecting American Flyer model trains, reading sci-fi books, and crime storybooks.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 38 years, Sharon; three sons: William and wife, Christina Fleming, Stephen Fleming, and Matthew and wife Ashley, Fleming; two grandchildren: Noah and Athena.
Caldwell was preceded in death by his parents.
