Cal & I spent many frustrating and a few rewarding moments golfing in the Grand Reserve Golf League over the past 6 years. Neither of us was exceptionally good, but we enjoyed each other's company, the fresh air, and the beautiful surroundings. We also shared a rarity in these parts ... we both had American Flyer model train equipment that worked! Wow, and to think we did it in Lionel country! Michigan residents, if they grew up in our time, were staunch Lionel enthusiasts. Cal grew up in Illinois and I grew up in New York and had parents that started us off with AF. Cal was actually the one who was instrumental in my decision to dedicate a 6'x16' portion of our "Basement storage" to an American Flyer layout. I spent the better part of 2020 COVID constructing the table and putting up a wall display of my engines and rolling stock. I will sorely miss his wise counsel regarding my plans for the actual layout. My sincere prayers go out to Sharon and the entire Caldwell clan. We'll be seeing you at Cal's visitation and funeral mass in July. Mike Petroski
