Steve was the best in calming a situation. At Encounter Church we would have troubled kids that would come in with a lot of stress that kids should not have to handle. These kids would act up and give the workers a though time. When that happened we would turn to Steve. He could take these kids and talk to them and immediately calm the situation. He loved kids. When little ones came in he gave them a big smile and made them feel welcome. These children had great respect for him. Steve knew the Bible and would often share during class. You could tell he knew the word and read a lot of books. You will be sadly missed. Lori we pray for Gods peace. Thank God for the years you had with Steve and know you will see him again some day.

Gladys and I are certainly saddened by the death of our friend and brother in the Lord. We have so many unique and wonderful memories of you two sitting near the front of west side of the sanctuary and sometimes Steve audibly cheering me on. You would often sit on the floor teaching the children who loved you both dearly. May the Lord embrace you, Lori, in His big arms until Steve can do so once again. You are loved and we pray for you. Sincerely, Roger & Gladys Van Donkelaar

Mr Schulz was real good friends of my family’s as well as my parents I often talked with him at school when I had issues and wanted to walk out as I got older I lost contact with Mr Schulz until my parents passed in 2006 when he graciously came to pay respects to both not only was he a friend to my family but he was a part of our extended family of the Long’s and schmitters so as I finish this off Mr Schulz do me a favor and tell my parents to stay out of trouble up their

I remember visiting Jimmie when we were quite young and Steve was rocking out to CCR while doing stuff around the house. I, in my ever over confident tone as a child, told him that I knew that band because my dad listened to them too. I then loudly declared that they were Clarence Clearwater Revival. He laughed so long at that and many times afterward when he saw me he would ask if I had listened any good Clarence Clearwater Revival songs lately. Do you know it took me a long time to figure out why he found that so funny?

He was a great uncle with an infectious laugh and smile. He had a big heart and loved his family. He played Santa for us kids when we were little. He was amazing. I am lucky to have been his niece. Love you always and forever Uncle Steve. Love, Randi Lynn
