Ron: Upon my return to the office, I was sadden to hear of your father's transition. Losing a parent is something we can expect, but are never adequately prepared. May the peace of Christ be with you and your family, as He cradles all of your love and precious memories.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I didn't personally know Mr. Figgins but my mom and dad did (Jim and Uldene Serven)I believe he worked with mom at the Police Department. Dave and I grew up with his children. Having just lost our last parent we know the void that will never be filled. We feel your pain. Every Christmas when I hear O Holy Night, I think of the many years that Ron sang it before he moved on to college. Again, another saint has left this world and is now sitting with the others with Jesus.

Mrs. Figgins, Una & Jan, Ellen and all the rest of your family:\
\
I just heard about your loss and I wanted to take a moment to tell you how sorry I am to hear that Howard is no longer with us. \
\
Growing up on Spruce Street, I have know your family for as long as I can remember. Ellen and I went to kindergarden together and I spent lots of time at your house.\
\
As an adult, I admired your dad, for stepping out to make a difference. He was like my mom (Mary Lehman) in that he loved Mt. Morris and he was dedicated to his family and his community. He stepped out to serve and to make a difference...and you just don't find people willing to do that anymore.\
\
Your dad would always take time to stop and visit when he saw you and I rarely remember a time in seeing or talking with him that he did not have a smile on his face.\
\
Your dad was one of those rare men that had the courage to step up and make a difference. I have always had a great respect for him. The old neighborhood as well as the Mt Morris community has lost a fine man who was one of a kind.\
\
Again, I am sorry to hear of your loss. I wish for all of you comfort and peace as you adjust your lives to live without this fine man.\
\
Most Sincerely.\
\
