Obituary of Joseph Carl Hoffman

Of Genesee, age 85, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 1:30pm, Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #158 of Clio. JoeAaas family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Sunday from 1:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Monday from 12:30pm until the time of service at 1:30pm. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the ParkinsonAaas Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Joe was born November 9, 1923 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Violet (Drake) Hoffman. He and Lois Rockwell were united in marriage in June of 1947 in Mt. Morris. He also proudly served our country during World War II with the U.S. Army and worked at Truck and Bus for over 37 years, retiring in 1979. Joe later married Ruth Matthews in July of 1995. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, as well as woodworking. Left to cherish Joe's memory are his children; Stephen and wife Mary Hoffman, Stewart and wife Cheryl Hoffman, Jane and husband Ray Thornton, Joe and wife Carmen Hoffman and George and wife Michelle Hoffman; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and brother, Lawrence and wife Joyce Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lois and second wife, Ruth; brothers, Louis Hoffman, Nathan Hoffman and sister, Donna Robinson.
