Obituary of Douglas Mark LaFontaine
Douglas LaFontaine, age 57, of Grand Blanc, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at his home. A celebration of his life will take place 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 Holly Rd., in Grand Blanc. Pastor Todd Bierman officiating with cremation to follow. Douglas’ family will be present at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc to receive friends on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Saturday, Douglas will be taken to the church to lie in state from 12:00 noon until the time the service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to Faith Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Douglas was born March 17, 1960, in St. Paul, Minnesota, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Silvio and Evelyn (Schultz) LaFontaine. He married Cindy Havemeier on June 19, 1982. He worked as a manager for many Event Centers throughout Michigan: The Dow Event Center, The Palace of Auburn Hills, and DTE Energy Music Theater, and a few others throughout the United States as well as Canada. In his free time, Douglas enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching sports, attending concerts and car shows, working on classic cars, and listening to music.
Left to cherish his memory, loving wife of 35 years, Cindy; three children: Melissa LaFontaine, Amanda (Bryon) Phillips, and Drew LaFontaine; three grandchildren: Cecellia, Haylee Rae, and Ryder; mother, Evelyn LaFontaine; five siblings: Bruce (Lori) LaFontaine, Glen LaFontaine, Tom LaFontaine, Karen LaFontaine, and Kathy (Dan) Mergens; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father Silvio.
