Obituary of Ronald Elmer Schnell

Age 76, of Vassar, our generous and loving brother and uncle died on the morning of Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his home. Ron was born in Saginaw on August 7, 1939, the son of the late Harold and Erna (Keinath) Schnell. He received his Master’s Degree from Concordia University and was a devoted educator, beginning with St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Millington and Flint Public Schools. Ron also operated the Mott Children’s Farm for many years. A talented soloist, Ron graced many families during their times of happiness at weddings, and times of sorrow at funerals with his vocal comfort. Ron was a friend to all, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, Eugene Schnell of Vassar; nephews, Mike and wife, Carol Schnell, Cliff Schnell, and friend, Roxanne, all of Vassar; great-nephews, Chad and Jason Schnell, Zack Weiss, and great-niece, Stephanie Maurer. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Sally. Ron’s family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home – Vassar. On Thursday, May 26, 2016, Ron will be taken to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until the time of his 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael’s Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
