Obituary of Dr. Tommy Grayson Lindsey

Age 77 of Mt. Morris died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. Funeral service will take place, 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Rev. Ron Shamel will officiate, with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Monday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the Genesee County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Tommy was born on September 21, 1937, in Black Mountain, North Carolina, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grayson H. and Ellen F. (Hensley) Lindsey. He would attend National Chiropractic College in Chicago, becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine. He and Dorothy Griffin were united in marriage on March 31, 1956, in North Carolina. Tommy enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time up north, vegetable gardening and cooking. He served his Mt. Morris Community in a variety of ways throughout his life. He was a member of the Mt. Morris Kiwanis Club, Mt. Morris Chamber of Commerce, North American Hunting Association and the NRA. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; four children, William Lindsey, Dr. Tommy and wife, Jeri Ann Lindsey, Amy Lynn and husband, John Akridge, and Ellen Kay and husband, Edward O'Neil; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister in-law, Mary and husband, Norm Tate; and many nieces; nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charlotte; in-laws, Dr. William and Amy Griffin; and brother-in-law, Bill Griffin.
