Age 100, of Vassar, died February 1, 2015, at Cartwright Hospice in Saginaw. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Grace Lutheran Church in Vassar with Paul Werner, Lay Minister officiating. Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 3, 2015, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar and at the church on Wednesday, from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Grace Lutheran Church, envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Catherine Weber was born September 11, 1914, in Wisner Township, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Elizabeth Weber. She married Ervin Roth on January 13, 1940, in Vassar. Catherine worked for Saginaw Steering Gear when it was a gun plant during WWII and at the Saginaw Foundry during the same time period. She enjoyed roller skating in her youth. Later in life, Bingo was her favorite activity. She also enjoyed bowling, baking, crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida; where she played shuffleboard, biked, played cards and Bingo with her Florida friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jean Mills, Donna Gillies and Charles (Betty) Roth; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and one arriving soon; sister, Mary Downing and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin; siblings, Floyd, Elizabeth, Anna, Ethel, Frank, Paul, Matt and Eva; and two sons-in-law George and James.
