Obituary of Richard Lee Galvin

Of Flint, age 25, died Saturday, September 11, 2010. The funeral service will take place 11:30am, Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Cremation to follow. Burial of cremated remains will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery with Military Honors at a later date. RichardAaas family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday from 11:00am until 9:00pm. On Thursday evening, family and friends will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 6:00pm, followed by a eulogy service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the USO. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Richard was born December 28, 1984 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard, Jr. and Therese "Terri" (George) Galvin. He was a graduate of Kearsley High School, Class of 2003. He and Michelle E. Gilligan, were united in marriage on March 30, 2007 at Travis Air Force Base in California. In 2006, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in California and Turkey and attained the rank of SRA E-4, prior to receiving his Honorable Discharge August 3, 2010. He loved hockey and has played since he was 3. He loved his family dearly, especially his wife, and his smile, laugh and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of three years, Michelle, and their faithful companion, Bruiser, mother and stepfather, Therese AaA"TerriAaA M. and Daniel A. Gillespie, father, Richard AaA"RickAaA Lee Galvin, Jr., brother and sister, Kelli A. and Michael A. Galvin, father-in-law and mother-in-law, John J.. and Marion H. Gilligan, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Annelies M. and A1C, Bradley J. Gilligan, grandmother, Anne George, grandfather, Ray Gillespie, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Lee Galvin, Sr. and Margaret M. Galvin.
