Age 92, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, January 24, 2014, at home. Mass of Christian burial will take place 11:00 am, Monday, February 3, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau officiating with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. William's family will be present at the Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Sunday, February 2, 2014, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Sunday Evening, family and friends will gather to pray the Rosary at 4:30 pm. On Monday, William will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church or to a charity of your choice.
William was born March 23, 1921, in Defiance, Ohio. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Wilhelmina (Weber) Schriner. William proudly served in the United States Army during WWII, GO 35 Hq 83rd Div 44, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. William earned numerous decorations and citations, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w/1 Silver Battle Star, 3 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal Bronze Star Medal. Upon returning home, William worked for AC Spark Plug for 40 years until his retirement in 1981. William married Audrey VanTol at St. Mary Catholic Church, February 1943. Sadly she preceded him in death May 1973. He would later marry Barbara Mahoney in November 1980 at St. Mary Catholic Church. She too preceded him in death June 1993. William loved spending time with his family and friends, fixing things and traveling.
Left to cherish his memory are 9 children; Gloria Halligan, Robert (Brenda) Schriner, Linda (Mike) Sushynski, Dennis (Kim) Schriner, Richard (Denise) Schriner, Ronald (Chong) Schriner, Debbie Schriner, Brian (Missy) Schriner and Brenda Warner; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; his brother Jack (Mary) Schriner; sisters-in-law, Joan Schriner and Terry Schriner; and many other family members and friends.
William was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Audrey, parents, second wife Barbara, sister Mary Kay Badgley, two brothers Neil and Tom Schriner, grandson Johnny Halligan, great-granddaughter Taylor Halligan and son-in-law Mike Halligan.
