Obituary of Dorothy Hitsman

In Loving memory of Dorothy Viola Hitsman who passed away February 11, 2012, at Brian's House in Bay City, Michigan at the age of 87. Dorothy was born December 12, 1924, to Dora Pretzer and Glen Hitsman in Alma, Michigan. Dorothy taught for nearly 40 years before she retired from Battle Creek Lakeview Public Schools where she taught 2nd, 3rd and 5th grades. Dorothy has a bachelor degree from Michigan State and her masters from University of Michigan. Dorothy was a very avid reader, quilter, gardener, tutor, and pet lover. She enjoyed her collections of antique dolls and bears of all shapes and sizes. Dorothy was a member of many different clubs and organizations. Dorothy was a very kind and loving person to all. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Margaret Tetil, and her brother-in-law, Max Tetil of Unionville, niece, Melissa Tetil (Mike) Bublitz of Chesaning, nephews Mike Tetil of Fairgrove, Miles (Donna) Tetil of Bay City; great-nieces and nephews, Laine Tetil Latty, Sarah Bublitz (Casey) Shuck, Mathew (Andrea) Bublitz, Stephen Bublitz, Nicholas (Jill) Tetil, Garrett (Jenna) Tetil; great-great nieces and nephews, Dylan, Canton, Violet and Jocelyn Tetil and Hannah and Elliot Shuck. Dorothy was predeceased by nephew, Mark Tetil and great-nephew, Wade Tetil. Dorothy will be dearly missed by all her loved ones and many Battle Creek area friends. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Martin Funeral Home at 5027 McLuney St. Fairgrove, Michigan. Pastor Dan Gonder will officiate with burial to follow in Demorest Cemetery. Dorothy's family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm.
