To the entire Flynn Family I was very sorry to hear about your Moms passing. I know your Mom and my mom shared a great conversation just a couple of days before, even though it was in the hospital. My mom shared with me that she was typical Verla, good spirits, joking and as always having a great sense of humor and incredible laugh. I know she has had a long journey with medical problems, and even though we will miss her terribly she is at peace with your Dad. I guess Heaven just needed a jokester and someone to bring laughter to everyone around her. Our loss is truely their gain. Verla and I shared the north-end of Flint for a lot of years. She went to Kurtz Elementary while I went to George Street, about eight blocks away. Our rivalry in softball disappeared when we all went to Beecher in the seventh grade. I remember Verla through all those years as one of the happiest girls I knew. She always had a smile on her face and never had a bad word about anyone. I can still see her dancing in the gym during lunch hour in her poodle skirt with that big grin. We both graduated in 1958 and I didn't see her again until a friend at work, Jack Eisele, introduced me to Bob Flynn her husband. What a guy, and what a great pair! My wife, Jeannine and I spent a lot of time with them and brought my Mother with us as often as we could. My Mom was Irish and simply loved Bob, especially when he sang to her. When Bob passed away I clipped the article about him and the hunting trip from the Flint Journal. I still have it under glass on my dresser along with a picture of Bob, Verla, Jeannine and I, at my Mom's birthday party. I am so sorry for the family because I know how much Bob and Verla loved their children, and how they loved them. I'm sorry, but I know that Verla is now with Bob again and that big smile is back, and they are waiting for family and friends with open arms. Leo and Jeannine Persails
