Obituary of Dollie Mae Downey

Of Vassar, was taken peacefully by the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 2:00pm, Monday, October 19, 2009, at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, then again on Sunday from 1:00pm until 8:00pm. On Monday family and friends will gather at the funeral home from 1:00pm until the time of service at 2:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundaton. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dollie was born August 11 in Kingsport, Tennessee the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clay and Ruby Barrett. She and Neil Downey were united in marriage on August 30, 1963. Dollie has resided in Millington since 1972. Dollie belonged to the Country Kickers and line danced for 16 years. She enjoyed sewing, making cloths, gardening, and baking. Dollie leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 46 years, Neil, son; James, daughters; Patty Holman and husband Gary, Maria Downey-Stewart and husband Rob, Angela Mottatt and husband Donald, and 13 wonderful grandchildren. Dollie was preceeded in death by her parents, daughter Shirley Ann, and grand-daughter Ruby Lynn Downey-Stewart.
