BIGELOW, Laura B. Of Genesee, age 91, went home to be with The Lord Sunday, August 27, 2006. Lauraas funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, September 1, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Lauraas family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and again from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. On Friday morning, Laura will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research via telephone at 1-877-268-7177 or www.cancer.org, or the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Laura was born February 8, 1915 in Point Edward, Ontario, Canada the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Ruby (Sullivan) Kentish. When she was little girl, her family moved to the Flint area. After graduating from Mt. Morris High School, Laura and Howard would be united in marriage in 1937. Following Howardas death, Laura would assume his role as a partner of Kurtz Gravel Company and worked in the office until her retirement in 1982. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris for over 80 years, serving and volunteering in nearly every aspect of the church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Left to cherish her memory are her children, son Fred, and daughter Rita, two grandchildren, Todd and wife Sheila Bigelow, Tracy and husband Mike Megyesi, four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Katie, Andy and Luke, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard and brother, William.
