Age 86 of Mt. Morris died Wednesday January 17, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Cntr.. Funeral services will be 9:00am Saturday, January 20, 2007 from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8:00pm and all day Friday from 9am-8:00pm. Family will be present Friday from 10:00am - 2:00pm and again from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Genesys Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. \ \ Mr. Gillies was born February 7, 1920 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Emma (Barrett) Gillies. He and Henrietta "Narethaa Lavigne were united in marriage at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church June 17, 1946. Ray served as SSgt of the US Army 40th Inf. Division in the South Pacific during WWII. He was wounded in action 1945. He retired from GM in 1980 as Supt. of Quality Control for Buick Motor Division with 32 years service. \ \ Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 plus years: Naretha. Son: Thomas and wife Jody Gillies of Lansing. Daughter: Judith and husband Phil Valkoun of Mt. Morris. Daughter-in-law: Denise Gillies of Mt. Morris 7 grandchildren: Brent and wife Carey Trombly of Traverse City; Denise and husband Steve Faculak of Davison; Mark and wife Betty Trombley of Mt. Morris; Tony and wife Carrie Gillies of Mt. Morris; Brian Gillies of Mt. Morris; Stacey and husband Jeremy Langworthy of Davison;\ Morgan Gillies of Lansing. 8 Great grandchildren: Amber ; Lauren; Mark; Torrey; Madison; Blake; Natalie; and Nicholas. Brother: Ronald and wife Marian Gillies of Grand Blanc. Sister and brothers-in-law: Lance and wife Gloria Lavigne and Garth Lavigne of Mt. Morris. Numerous special friends and neighbors who will sadly miss him. \ \ Ray was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Gillies May 6, 1997.\
