Obituary of Marilyn Suzanne Schaffer

Of Clio, age 78, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Monday evening family and friends will gather to pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. On Tuesday morning Marilyn will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Mary's Choir. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Marilyn was born November 12, 1934, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Rose (Artz) Leisen. She and Bill Schaffer Sr. were united in marriage April 16, 1955. Marilyn was the organist for 52 years at St. Mary's. Marilyn leaves to cherish her memory, four children, William Jr. and wife, Sally Schaffer, Robert Schaffer, Mark and wife, Mary Schaffer and Lisa and husband, Richard Pellizzari; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson and one great-grandchild on the way; sisters-in-law, Doris Fish, Shirley Livingston, Mary Schaffer, Pat Schaffer; brother-in-law, Conrad and wife, Mildred Schaffer; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Bill.
