PICKREN, DONALD\
Of Vassar, age 76, went home to his Heavenly Father on February 16, 2007 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City where he was lovingly cared for by their staff. Don was born November 5, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the son of Donald C. and Edith (Edwards) Pickren. Don and Carolyn (Surprenant) were united in marriage October 25, 1952 in Detroit. Don served four years with the U.S. Marine Corp and additional time with the U.S. Navy. Donas career was extensive; he worked for Chrysler Missile, Bendix Corp., Alexander Hamilton Insurance Co. and as an electronic sales engineer. He formed his own business, PMR Associates, prior to retirement. He was a devout Christian and served as an elder and bible teacher at Lake Pointe bible Chapel, Plymouth, Michigan for many years. He moved to Vassar in 1996 with his wife, Carolyn. They became members of the Vassar Baptist Church and Don served as Deacon and bible teacher until his illness. In addition to Carolyn, he leaves his precious children: Rick (and Shelly) Pickren, Darcie Pickren, Richard and Deborah (Pickren) Zerafa, Donald C. (and Cindy) Pickren III, Marcia Pickren and Donas brother, David Reany. Left to cherish his memory are 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Nathan Miller and Donas sister, Carolyn Reany-Kubek. Funeral services will take place at the Vassar First Baptist Church with Rev. David Somers officiating. Burial will be in riverside Cemetery with graveside Military Honors conducted by Millington American Legion Post #164. Donas family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home-Vassar on Wed. Feb. 21 from 2-8 P.M. and at the church on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Northwood Meadows medical facility or Advantage Hospice. Both are located in Cass City. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.\
