Obituary of Arlene May Ward

Age 95 of Vassar died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab in Mayville. Funeral service will take place 10:00 am Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday, from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. Arlene was born May 20, 1918, in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Blanche (Kilbourn) Collins. She met and married Emory Cooper and he preceded her in death. She would later marry Al Steele, Burt VanHorn and Robert Ward, all of whom have preceded her in death. Arlene worked for Eaton Foundry for many years, until her retirement. She was a lifetime member of Vassar Eagles Aerie # 2380. Left to cherish her memory are son, Norman and wife, Phyllis Cooper; two grandchildren, Mark and wife, Cheri Cooper and Roxann and husband, Tim Hennessey; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands; and two sisters, Margaurete and Betty.
