Obituary of Alverna Marie Hessler

Of Akron, age 75, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, Thursday, August 15, 2013, after a short illness. Alverna was born August 10, 1938, in Akron, Michigan, to Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Elizabeth (Osbourn) Ryan. She retired from Caro Regional Center in 1999, after 22 years. Alverna was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting and camping. She was a lifelong member of Akron Church of Christ. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Debra and husband Jerome Prusakiewicz, Perry and wife Julia Hessler, Randy Hessler, Brenda and husband Richard Hewgley, Lorie and husband Tom Tenerelli, and Todd "Buck" Hessler; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; Shirley Ryan, and Arlene Ryan, aunts; Hazel Kartes and Emma Ryan; and many nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Fred Hessler and two brothers; Milford and Bill Ryan. The funeral service will take place 3:00 pm, Monday, August 19, 2013, at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Mr. Richard Miller will officiate with burial at a later date in Brookside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove on Sunday, from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm and on Monday, from 11:00 am until time of service at 3:00 pm. Memorial donations may be directed to the Family for a Community Memorial Bench to honor their Mother. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
