Age 86, of Mt. Morris, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Brannon Residential Achievement Group in Clio. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 11:00am at the Miles Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Hal Phillips officiating. Burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park after the funeral service. Lois' family will be present at the Miles Martin Funeral Home to receive friends on Friday, May 4th from 4:00pm until 9:00pm and on Saturday, May 5th from 9:00am until the service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Brannon Residential Achievement Group (BRAG). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Lois was born September 1, 1920 in Saginaw, the daughter of Grover Cleveland Torrey and Irene Jeanette Craig. Lois graduated from Beecher High School where she met her best friend and the love of her life, Dale. They married on September 20, 1940 and had four children. During her years as a homemaker, she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, a 4-H leader and a Sunday School teacher. When her youngest child went to school, Lois resumed her education. She attended Flint Junior College where she became the school's newspaper editor, worked on the yearbook and acted in plays at the Bower Theatre. Lois continued her education at Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan Universities earning both her bachelors and masters degrees.\
Lois was employed by the Flint Community School District from 1958 until her retirement in 1992. She taught at Jefferson, Williams and Homedale Elementary Schools. At Homedale a courtyard garden was dedicated to her and named AaA"Princing Park.AaA She also was an Instructor's Specialist for the Flint schools, where one of her favorite roles was to play AaA"Cleo the ClownAaA: for the students. Although Lois may have lost all of her memories of the life she lived and loved prior to the onset of Alzheimers, she left us, her family and friends, the memories of a brilliant, creative, energetic, optimistic, competitive, loving and free-spirited woman. Lois will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving to cherish her memory are: 3 daughters, Judy and husband Steve Bliss of NC, Joan Lee of Clio, and Jill Kellerman of Genesee; son, Dale James Princing of Flint, grandchildren, Stephanie Kalscheur, Erin Krementz, Camille Martell, Mark Wright, Kirsten Bliss, Nicole Groulx, Rick Glynn, David, Jamie, D.J. and Kimberlyn Princing; great-grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin, Cassidy, Jordan, Jesse, David, Jake, Sarah, Grant, Matthew and Cole; sister, Althea Gorecki; sisters-in-law, Louise Torrey, Janice and Bill Barnum, and Loris Princing; brother-in-law, Pete and Donna Princing; several bonus grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Dale; her parents, brother, Craig Torrey; son-in-law, LaVaughn Lee; sisters-in-law, Shirley Rilenge, Donna Van de Bunt; brothers-in-law, Wesley Princing, and Gene Gorecki; nieces, Annie Torrey and Carol Lavinge; nephew, Doug Beardslee; bonus grandson, Todd Kellerman. Lois' family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Brannon Residential Achievement Group for all the love and excellent care given to our mother and grandmother these past 3 years. You became her bonus family. We are so very grateful for all you have done.\
