Obituary of Aurora Luna Quintanilla

Of Mt. Morris, age 75, died Sunday, Aug 25, 2013. Aurora was born Sept 21, 1937 in Laredo, TX the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Santos and Maria (Reyes) Luna. She attended Martin High School in Laredo, TX & was married there to Oscar Munoz a Korean War Veteran. In 1960, they came to Flint, MI, where Oscar worked for G.M. & they became members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church & contributed to the later site located on Coldwater Road. By dedicating herself to her 7 children's education she & her family became members of St. Michael's Church in Flint & worked through the church for this reason & for its beliefs. Under the direction of the late Sister Mary Jane Bauman, Aurora taught Catechism & also sang in the choir. After her husband died in 1985, she married Mr. Isabel Quintanilla on April 1, 1989 & together they attended Fountain of Grace Assembly of God in Mt. Morris. They enjoyed traveling & spending time with her family and friends. Aurora will always be remembered by those who knew her.
She was the beloved wife to Mr. Isabel Quintanilla; loving mother to Jorge Munoz, Linda & Mark Fisher, Hector & Lori Munoz, Norma Munoz, Ruben Munoz, David & Ofelia Munoz, Liza Hernandez & Margarita Quintanilla; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; & many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Oscar Munoz; son, Oscar Munoz, Jr., grandson, Angel Munoz; three brothers, Antonio, Cristobal and Santos Luna, Jr.; two sisters, Alicia Flores & Zoila Blanca Lerma & special friend, Irene Reyes, who she never stopped missing.
The funeral service will take place, Thurs, Aug 29, 2013 at the Fountain of Grace, Assembly of God in Mt. Morris. Pastor Brian Lidbeck will officiate with burial to follow in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, & Wednesday, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. On Thursday, Aurora will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am.
