Of Mt. Morris, age 81, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at his home. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Friday, August 30, 2013, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service. On Thursday evening, family and friends will gather at the funeral home for a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm conducted under the auspices of the Mt. Morris Masonic Lodge # 535 F. & A.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to The Shriners Hospitals for Children. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Charles "Noel" was born October 18, 1931, in Flint, Michigan the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Winifred (Whitehurst) Gunther. He and Joanne Sheick were united in marriage July 2, 1955. He graduated from Beecher High School in 1952. Noel worked for General Electric for 22 years. He was a life long member of the Mt. Morris Masonic Lodge # 535 F. & A.M. In his free time Noel, enjoyed bowling with his wife and spending time with his family and friends. Noel was known as a jack of all trades and could be found doing electrical repair, television repair, auto repair and wood working repair.
Left to cherish his memory are wife, Joanne Gunther; children, Chris Gunther and wife, Ruth, Nola Little and Carrie O'Dell and husband, Tim; six grandchildren, Brandon Little and wife, Megan, Ryan Gunther and wife, Sarah, Sarah (Gunther) Misbah and husband, Azhr, Garret Little and wife, Kristen, Brittney Little, Leslie O'Dell, Kathryn O'Dell and Michelle O'Dell; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Murgas, Martha Gosselin and husband, Ned and Mary Comfort and husband, Earl; many nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Fred, Richard, Gene, Bud, Phillip, Jake and Ike; and three sisters, Mildred, Ruth and Harriet.
