Obituary of Fern Ola Murphy

MURPHY, Fern Ola Of Mt. Morris, age 81, died Friday, July 20, 2007 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. The funeral Mass will take place 11:00 am, Monday, July 23, 2007 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Fern's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Sunday from 12noon to 3:00pm, and 5:00pm to 8:00pm. On Sunday afternoon, family friends, and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 2:00pm. Monday morning Fern will be taken to church where she will lie in state from 10:00am until time of funeral Mass at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary School or Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Fern was born March 19, 1926 in Flint, MI the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester and Gertrude (Williams) Wadsworth. She and Lavern Murphy were united in marriage on October 18, 1944. Fern worked in the Mt. Morris Schools in the cafeteria for 8 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Fern leaves to cherish her memory 5 children: Phillip and wife Anita Murphy, Patrick and wife Shirley Murphy, Lawrence Murphy, Diana and Garry Gaul, and Rose and husband Douglas Morris, 18 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, sister Berniece Rowbotham, 3 sisters in law, Florence Kern, Margaret and husband Paul Pipoly, and Joan Chambers,and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Fern was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Lavern.
