Obituary of Genendell Louise Helmer

Of Durand formerly of Clio, age 70, died Monday, August 6, 2007 at Owosso Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will take place, at 1:00pm on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Mr. Vernon Lawrence will officiate with cremation to follow. Family will greet friends and loved ones Wednesday 11:00am until 8:00pm and also from 11:00am until the time of service on Thursday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Shiawassee County Counsel on Aging or Memorial Healthcare Hospice of Owosso. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. \ \ Genendell was born November 26, 1936 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. Bruce Hawkins and Mrs. Eva (Hodge) Breinager. She and Robert Wilson Helmer were united in marriage February 27, 1954 in Flint. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Birch Run. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. \ \ Her memory will be cherished by her mother Evan and stepfather John Breinager, her sons; Robert Wilson Helmer Jr., Bruce Duane Helmer, Mark Steven and Maureen Helmer, Matthew Scott and Faith Ann Helmer, seven grandchildren; Robert III, Brian, Brandon, Brandi, Brittany, Tasha, and Heather Helmer, three great-grandchildren; Robbie, Alyssa and Cora Helmer, sisters; Kathy and husband Ronald March, Debra Ellis, brother-in-law Russell and Beverley Helmer, sister-in-law Betty Helmer and many nieces and nephews. \ \ She was preceded in death by, her husband of 53 years Robert Wilson Helmer, her father Bruce Hawkins, son Terry David Helmer, and brother in law Frederick Helmer.
