Of Vassar, age 82 died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at her home. Jewell was born June 24, 1925 in Geneva, Alabama, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jewell and Lilly (Spikes) Brown. Jewell married Manuel Steve Harper, Sr. on December 19, 1955 in Vassar. She loved her family very much and they will greatly miss her. \

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Loretta, Alisa, Manuel (Daniela), Annette, Tommy (Shelly), Timothy (Linda) Harper and Janet (Tony) Lugo, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws Rosemary and Mattie, and many friends. \

Jewell was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Manuel Steve Harper, Sr. and her parents Jewell and Lilly (Spikes) Brown. \

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Vassar Pastor Edward Jackson will be officiating with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends from 6:00pm until 7:00pm Friday at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Those desiring, may consider memorial contributions to the Christ Kingdom Ministries. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
