Obituary of George C Phillips

PHILLIPS, George C\ \ Of Genesee, age 93, died (kicked the bucket) Friday, August 17, 2007 at Genesys Hospice Care Center -Goodrich. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Bruce Nowacek will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. George's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00am to 9:00pm, and on Wednesday morning from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be considered to Genesee United Methodist Church, or Genesee Township Fire Station # 1. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.\ \ George was born October 31, 1913 in Ionia, MI the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chet and Nettie C. (Roberts) Phillips. He and Betty Goff were united in marriage on July 1, 1939 in Mt. Morris.\ \ George was the owner and operator of Phillips Hardware in Genesee for 30 years. After selling his business he woked as a sales representative for building and maintence products. He was one of the founding members of the Genesee Township Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, and traveling, including a solo trip to Southern Mexico when he was 80. He enjoyed playing poker and black jack after fire meetings, and in Las Vegas. \ \ George leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 68 years Betty,\ son Robbin and wife Lynda Phillips,\ 4 grandchildren Melanie Phillips, Steven Byrd, Theresa Byrd, and Roxanne Phillips, \ 3 great grandchildren Chelsea, Dallas-Anne, and Bryce.\ \ He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister.\ \
