Of Mt. Morris, age 80, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at her daughters home in Tennessee. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at 12:00noon. Pastor Mark Clark Jr. will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00noon until 9:00pm, and on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00noon. Memorial contributions can be directed to Cadillac Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Velma was born May 16, 1929 in Defiance, Ohio the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Vera (Butler) Pace. She and Howard LaVerne Stratton were united in marriage October 02,1948 in Elberta, Michigan. Velma enjoyed playing euchre, cribbage, crocheting, sewing, reading, her pets, camping, and listening to preeching cdAaas. Velma was a member of Cadillac Baptist Church. She loved her church, her pastor, and most of all the lord. Left to cherish her memory are her seven children; Jackie and husband Denny Herman, Theresa and husband Joe Johannis, Brenda Subora, Howard Jr. and wife Khris, Terri and husband Michael Hubbs, Sherrie and husband Dave Rudi, Ronda and husband Phil Williams. 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two siblings.
