Obituary of Carl Shands

Of Mt. Morris, age 85, died March 9, 2010, at Birchwood Meadows Assisted Living. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with cremation to follow. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Carl was born February 6, 1925 in Hornersville, Missouri the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Lena (Earhearht) Shands. He and Opal Overman were united in marriage April 4, 1946.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, Opal; children, Harold, Sandra and husband, Sam Parker; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tommy Shands and grandson, Alan Sean Parker.
