Obituary of M. C. McFarland

Of Vassar, age 67, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at VA Medical Center - Saginaw. The memorial service will take place 1:00pm, Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Martin Funeral Home - Vassar. Pastor Wally Reames will officiate with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Disabled Veterans of America or The Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Charlie. was born October 6, 1942 in Earle, Arkansas the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie and Ruth (Cooper) McFarland. He and Donna Jean Parlette were united in marriage June 4, 2003 in Caro, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following an honorable discharge, he worked with Chrysler for 17 years as a final inspector on the assembly line. Also, he worked part-time as a substitute school bus driver for the Vassar school district. He enjoyed tinkering with computers, especially ones with the linux system. He was very musical and played the bass guitar in groups in Ann Arbor. Charlie also loved fishing and camping. Left to cherish his memory are his wife; sister, Ruth Hunt of Toledo, Ohio; special niece, Terese Brown of Columbus, Ohio; animal companions, Katie and Roofus. He was preceded in death by his parents and special cousin, John C. Webb.
