Of Clio, age 47, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at home . The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Frank Yount will officiate with burial to follow in Thetford Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, and on Monday from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Leona was born March 6, 1962 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude and Rachel (McDonald) Baker Sr. She and John Shears were united in marriage October 14, 1994.
Leona leaves to cherish her memory her husband John Shears, daughter Kendra and Adam Miller, daughter Lisa Cummins, son Douglas Shears, step son Brad Shears, five sisters, and two brothers, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Claude Baker Jr., stepson John Shears Jr., and step daughter Christina (Shears) Cox.
