Daniel was born on July 11, 1948, in Flint, he is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Oscar and Shirley (Fent) Bartholomew. Educated locally, Dan graduated with the class of 1968. While in high school, Dan would begin working as a stocker for Yankee’s Department Store in Flint. He met, fell in love, and married the love of his life, Judy Davis on March 15, 1975. Their union was blessed with three children. In 1977, Dan would begin his career with GM Truck & Bus. Dan found his 32-year career on the assembly line not only enjoyable but very rewarding until he retired in 2009. Dan was a family man who loved family gatherings; he loved taking his family on camping, hunting and fishing trips. He loved nature and lived for the outdoors; Mackinac Island was one of Dan’s favorite places to go. He continued his love for family trips with his grandchildren, he was known to take them on trips or hunting. He would always say to his grandkids “grab a Bomb Pop from the freezer and get him one too!” Dan also enjoyed playing Euchre with his brothers and Solitaire, watching a good Western, relaxing with an Elvis movie, or shopping on QVC. He was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. Everyone knew when a game was on as they could hear him cheering them on. Most of all, Dan was known for being a kind but stern, gentleman that was always reliable. He was an excellent baker, who was known for baking the best Mounds Cake, Pumpkin Spice Cake, and the family favorite Loplolli.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Judy; three children: Ryan (Karrie) Bartholomew, Jennifer Bartholomew, Crystal (Jay Moore) Bartholomew; seven grandchildren: Anthony, Bailey, Jordan, Ashton, Mason, Vanessa, and Antonio; great-grandchildren; four brothers:  Robert (Priscilla) Bartholomew, John (Rachel) Bartholomew, Richard (Teresa) Bartholomew, and Gerald Bartholomew; special family friend like a daughter, Pamela Boyd; and many other family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to DaVita Dialysis and to Hurley Hospital Nursing staff-especially Jason on the 4th floor and Regina on the 5th floor for the love, and support, they gave.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Patricia Warner; father-in-law, Dwayne Warner; uncle and aunt: Brad and Betty Bartholomew; cousins: Tina Jennings, and Carl Bartholomew; and best-friend, Greg Heath.
