Obituary of Raymond J. Graves
Age 86, of Mt. Morris died Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. Funeral services will take place 12:00 pm, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Brian Southerland will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Raymond’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Genesee County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Raymond was born April 16, 1938 in London, Ontario, Canada, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell and Vera Graves. He answered the call of his country, serving in the United States Army. Raymond married Elise (Rockafellow) Kendall 0n October 11, 1980. Over the years, he had several jobs, including salesman and a manager of Vlasic Pickle in Imlay City. Raymond was the past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3814 in Burton. A lifelong baseball fan, he was a diehard Detroit Tigers fan, and played in a league with his Eagles post until he was in his mid 70’s. He will be truly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are, his wife, Elise Graves, three children, Teresa Trantham (David), Christine Emery and Kimberly Calhoun; stepchildren, Mal Kendall (Marilyn), Wayne Kendall (Colleen), Cliff Kendall, Keith Kendall (Lou), 21 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Harry Graves (Chris), Patsy Morgan (Ernie), Mary Wahl (Carl) and Teri Graves, and several nieces, nephews and friends and his beloved dog, Kolbee.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Mary Lou, son, Raymond, and two brothers; Ronnie and John.
