Guy was born on September 21, 1935, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon and Mary (McCarroll) Cole. Educated locally, he attended Kearsley High School and graduated with the Class of 1953. Guy met his beautiful bride, Janice Wright, at the local A&W and they were united in marriage on January 15, 1954. They just celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. Sadly, she preceded him in death on February 18, 2024. Guy began his career working at the bank. Moving up the ladder over the years, he eventually became the President at the bank where he worked in Ohio before moving to Michigan and accepting the position of President at another bank here until his retirement after 30 years of service. Every Saturday, Guy would spend his day at his furniture store, Cole’s Home Furniture, in Mt. Morris. Guy took pride in the business and was a diligent worker, always helping wherever he was needed. In his younger years, Guy enjoyed woodworking and made several beautiful pieces. Traveling to Las Vegas was one of his favorite travel destinations. He loved playing Blackjack and studied books to learn how to be a better player. Spending time camping with his family was his favorite pastime. He would often take his family on vacations all over the United States camping along the way. Later in his life, Guy decided he would buy a motorhome and he would take his family along camping and traveling. When his children were younger, Guy coached their little league teams as well as went on several camping trips with the Boy Scouts. Guy enjoyed cars and always owned the largest one he could find, the bigger the better. Guy was well known for speaking his mind. He loved his family unconditionally and would do anything for any of his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish Guy’s memory are his children: Gregory and wife, Anne Cole, Randy and wife, Lisa Cole; grandchildren: Ian and wife, Jamie, Chelsea, Taylor and fiancé, Steve, Mary and husband, Ryan, Gracie, Rosie; great-grandchildren: Lexi, Brock, Keri, Scarlet, Ridley, Cora.
Guy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Janice Cole, and his parents.
