Carl was born in Flint, on December 21, 1938, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thelbert and Helen (Razso) McKee. Educated locally, Carl graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the Class of 1957. Shortly after graduating, Carl began his career at General Motors-Chevy in the Hole, where he worked until he was drafted into the United States Army. Private First Class McKee proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from January 18, 1962, until earning his honorable discharge on January 9, 1964, during his tour, Carl earned his Expert Rifle (M-1). Upon his return to civilian life, Carl returned to General Motors where he worked as a Millwright for 39 years until his retirement in 1996. On June 21, 1968, Carl married the love of his life, Joan Warren. Sadly, she preceded him in death on December 21, 2021. Carl was a member of the Mt. Morris Community Church, he also attended Hopewell Baptist Church in the past. Carl loved all things cars; from building and working on them to drag racing them and showing them at car shows. In his younger years, Carl enjoyed bowling, which he did for many years on a league at East Town Bowling Alley. He also enjoyed guns and shooting skeet. Carl often spent his time traveling all over the United States in his motorhome or on his motorcycle. When he wasn’t traveling, he held season tickets for U of M football and enjoyed attending those games to cheer on his favorite team. Carl just recently learned how to cook and enjoyed finding and preparing new recipes for his family to try. Spending time with his family and having family gatherings were his favorite. After moving to Florida, Carl enjoyed watching golf.
