Obituary of Randy Sheldon Hasselblad
Age 71, of Mt. Morris, died May 14, 2024, at home with his family by his side. In accordance with Randy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on what would have been his 72nd birthday, Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 2:00pm until 7:00pm, at the American Legion Post #64; 4314 W. Carpenter Rd. Randy was born on June 12, 1952, in Newberg, Oregon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Beldon and Beverly (Petit) Hasselblad. Randy proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Germany as a Postal Clerk until his discharge in 1972. On August 24, 1979, Randy married the love of his life, Gayle Calhoun, in Springfield, Oregon. Randy was the proud owner of his own business, New Horizons Painting, and also enjoyed working as a truck driver as well as he worked for Asbestos Abatement. Painting was his passion. He loved to take old “dog houses” and turn them into “doll houses.” Randy proudly professed his life to Christ. Going to car shows was one of his favorite pastimes. Randy was the proud owner of several classic cars and enjoyed showing them off at car shows where he won several trophies including one for his ’42 Plymouth. Randy had a hot rod that could throw flames and enjoyed entertaining his family by lighting bonfires with his car. Randy also was a lover of Harley Davidson Motorcycles and was the proud owner of over 28 bikes over the years. Randy was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time at home with his family, including his puppies. Randy was the most complimentary man you would ever meet. He always had something nice to say to others. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish Randy’s memory are his beloved wife of 46 years, Gayle Hasselblad; children: Joseph and wife, Leslie Hasselblad, Jennifer and husband, Josh Gaylor; grandchildren: Randy, Alyssa, Joseph, Jessica, and Kaydence; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends,
Randy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon Hasselblad; and his father and mother-in-law: John and Rose Calhoun.
