Obituary of Bertha Lloyd
Age 97, of Flint, died Sunday, May 5, 2024, at home with her family by her side. A funeral service will take place at 10:00am, Friday, May 10, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Dr. Perrico Robinson to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Bertha’s family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am until 8:00pm, on Thursday, and again from 9:00am until the time of service at 10:00am. Bertha was born on October 20, 1926, in Norman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Rosie (Mayhan) Hopkins. Educated in Oklahoma, Bertha graduated with the Class of 1944. Bertha met and married the love of her life, Wallace Lloyd. Their union was blessed with eight beautiful children. Sadly, he preceded her in death in May 1980. Bertha worked for General Motors, AC Spark Plug Division for 30 years until her retirement. Berth had a strong faith and loved the Lord. She enjoyed reading her Bible and Christian novels. Bertha was up for any new adventure, including learning how to Ballroom Dance, where she traveled and competed all over the county. Spending time in her garden planting her vegetables or just going for her daily walk was something she looked forward to. Bertha was an amazing seamstress and made many outfits for her grandchildren as well as aprons and pillows to name a few. In her free time, Bertha enjoyed coloring, painting, and thrift shopping. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish Bertha’s memory are her children: Marilyn Flowers, Paula Wells, Karen Bazzi; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Ed Anger; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Bertha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace Lloyd; her parents; her children: Brenda Anger, Joy Vader, James Lloyd, Lawanna Slavik, Vincent Lloyd; grandson, Dougie Flowers; siblings: Wanda, Malitha, Wanita, Ula, Betty, and Johnny.
