Shirley Etta Batterbee was born on March 6, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lauren and Mary (Auer) Bader. Shirley met and married her beloved husband, Ronald Batterbee, on October 4, 1958. Sadly, he preceded her in death on March 26, 1997. Shirley retired from Citizens Bank and went on to own her own business known as Batterbee’s Sweet Shoppe. She also worked many years at Bronners. Shirley spent many hours volunteering her time at McLaren Hospital and was a member of the Genesee County Herb Society as well as the Red Hat Society. She loved gardening, playing Euchre, needle point, and always had chocolate on hand. Shirley will be remembered by family and friends as a caring, loving, and strong-willed woman who always wanted you to stop and bring her a caramel sundae if you were stopping by. Shirley was a wonderful woman who was well-known and loved and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her son, Lauren (Tracie) Batterbee; granddaughters: Emilee (Adam) Amon, Katie Brodie, Vanessa (Scott) Lake; grandsons: Christopher (Mackenzie) Batterbee, Nick Batterbee, Justin (Heather) Batterbee; dear friend, Lorraine (Ron) Palmer; great-grandchildren: August, George, Oliver, and many more great-grandchildren; several cousins, relatives, and friends.
