Paul was born October 30, 1947, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel and Marguerite (Gillard) Laurin. Educated locally, Paul attended St. Mary Catholic School and graduated with the Class of 1966. While in school, he lettered in football, track, and enjoyed playing summer baseball. Paul heeded the call to serve his country and proudly enlisted in the United States Army during Vietnam and was an artillery specialist fourth class until his honorable discharge in December 1970. Upon his return to the States, Paul began managing the Clark gas station where he met his future bride, MaryAnn, from there he began managing the Robo Car Wash for many years until he found his true passion as a lawn sprinkler troubleshooter and repairman where he could spend his days outdoors. In 1972, Paul married MaryAnn Foote, and enjoyed being a big brother to her siblings. Paul was an avid fan of the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Red Wings. If you were to talk to him about sports, you definitely had his attention and probably became one of his best buddies. Paul enjoyed volunteer work and spent 20 years working with his nephew Daniel who had Cerebral Palsy. In his later years, Paul enjoyed rebuilding computers and playing computer games such as MYST and putting together jigsaw puzzles that he glued together and hung on the wall.
Left to cherish Paul’s memory are his former wife, MaryAnn Foote; children, Kimberly and husband, Tom Esper, Paul II and wife, Teresa Laurin, Israel and wife, Melissa Laurin; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters: Bernadette Eickholt, Roberta Malm; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Duane Laurin, Robert Laurin, Michael Laurin, Dave Laurin, Richard Laurin, Rita Laurin, and Regina McCulley.
