Stanley “Stu” was born in Flint, on December 19, 1927, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley and Marion (Vorpagel) Allard, Sr. Educated locally, he graduated from St. Mary Catholic School in 1946. Stu met his beloved bride, Carol Russell, while visiting his friend who lived next door to the grocery store that her family-owned, and they were united in marriage on March 22, 1952. Sadly, she preceded him in death on July 23, 2023. Stu worked as a carpenter and owned his own business called Allard Construction until his retirement in 1990. Stu was a major part of the new home construction in Beecher in 1953 when the tornado tore through entire neighborhoods, rebuilding hundreds of homes. He also had a hand in building several hundred other homes during his career in the Flint and surrounding areas. Stu was a member of the former Thetford United Methodist Church for many years. He enjoyed helping with the church dinners and was wonderful at helping make homemade peach pie for every occasion. Stu was a part of the Good Samaritan Camping Club, as well as enjoyed spending time at the Thetford Senior Center where he was a member for over 25 years. Not only did he love going there, they loved having him there. Stu also enjoyed the Senior Olympics and participated in them for many years. Spending time wintering in Texas was one of his favorite pastimes. Stu would load up the fifth wheel every year. He also enjoyed hunting, which included deer camp with his nephews, camping, and pan fishing. Stu was an avid sports fan and never missed a U of M football game and was so happy to see them go to the championships again, as well as the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling in a league at Northwest Bowling Alley and playing as the catcher in AA softball. In his free time, Stu enjoyed playing cards like Cribbage, Pinochle, Euchre, and Poker as well as beating everyone in Checkers. He was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish Stu's memory are his children: Joe and wife, Debby Allard, David and wife, Kathy Allard, Cathy and husband, Sim Allard-Climie; grandchildren: Dan and wife, Nicole Allard, Jennifer Sanders, Jacob and wife, Lauren Allard, Jared Allard, Philip and wife, Renae Allard, Seth and wife, Alex Allard; great-grandchildren: Makayla, Paige, Chase, Elijah, Charlotte, Brady, Madison, Brooks, Jase, Rylee, Wyatt, Russell; several nieces, nephews, relatives, church and senior center friends.

Stu was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Carol Faye Allard; his parents; and siblings: Mary Ann, Phyllis, Betty, Virginia, and Tommy.
