Betty was born in Flint on September 21, 1938, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence and Lulu (Wilson) Curey. Educated locally, Betty attended Beecher High School. On December 20, 1958, she married the love of her life, Leon Yorks, at Trinity Assembly of God. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children. Betty worked as a realtor until her grandchildren were born. She then became a full-time grandma and caregiver to them. They were her pride and joy and she loved them all. Betty was a lifelong member of the Trinity Assembly of God. Camping in Indian River and Traverse City were just a few of the many pastimes she enjoyed, along with riding a giant innertube on Otsego Bay where the waves were so big that they carried her to the shore. Betty was an amazing baker and was well-known for her famous homemade apple cake with homemade cream cheese frosting, and let’s not forget her baked beans, they were delicious. In her free time, she was an avid horseback rider, loved rummage sales and putting together puzzles as well as tending to her flower garden, especially her rose bushes. Betty loved to spend time with her family and have everyone over for every holiday. She was a wonderful, wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Betty's memory are her beloved husband of 65 years, Leon Yorks; children: Eugene Yorks, Amber Yorks, David Yorks; grandchildren: Onalee Policella, Richard Ford Jr., Kaylee, Jordyn, Cameron, Scotty and wife, Andrea, Amber, Crystal, Brandon and wife, Tiffany, Justice, Leon; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
