Dixie was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky, on October 22, 1927, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Addison and Prudence (Hamilton) Marshal. Dixie met and married the love of her life, J.B. Cole, on February 12, 1946, in Indiana. Sadly, he preceded her in death on February 4, 2017. Dixie was a longtime member of the Clio Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and loved to plant flowers and vegetables. She had the most amazing garden and would often read magazines that had flowers in them so she could make hers even better. Dixie also was an amazing bowler and bowled on many leagues, in fact, she was so good, that she was often sought after by others to be on their teams. Antiquing was another of Dixie’s favorite pastimes. She was able to wheel and deal with just about anyone, and before she left, someone was always giving her something for free. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing volleyball and softball on a church league. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Dixie's memory is her daughter, Sue Ann and husband, William Balloon; grandchildren: Jennifer Gunnels, Victoria Balloon and husband, Michael Firestone; grandson, Nathaniel Gunnels; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.
