Helen was born in Flint on July 16, 1928, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Louise (Wing) Byakowski. She met and married the love of her life, Clifford Deacons, on February 22, 1947, at North Baptist Church in Flint. Sadly, he preceded her in death on April 11, 2008. Helen loved her family more than anything else. Caring for them and cooking for them were what she loved most. She was known to have a “Golden Spatula” as she made the best food. Having her family over and hosting all the holiday events was her favorite pastime. Helen had an amazing green thumb and had the biggest and best plants and flowers in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed bowling and was on a mixed doubles league with her beloved husband as well as a women’s league. In her free time, Helen enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and word search puzzles as well as spent many nights playing BINGO. Most of all, she loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Helen's memory are her children: Nancy and husband, LD Fowler, Theodore and wife, Beth Deacons, Thomas and wife, Becky Deacons; grandchildren: Jennifer and husband, Gavin Wilk, Rebecca and husband, Terry Hackney, Jackie and husband, Billy Luchenbill, Tony and wife, Ashley Deacons, Richard Fowler; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Josephine (Mary) Chilson; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clifford; parents; and brothers: John Byakowski, Walter Farrel, Andy Byakowski, Frank Byakowski, and Mike Farrel.
