Theda was born in Ashland, Kentucky, on March 12, 1945, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted and Christine (Adkins) Coleman. Educated locally, she attended Beecher High School and graduated with the class of 1963. Theda met and married the love of her life, Garth Hill, at Walli’s in Beecher, and the two were united in marriage on October 31, 1964. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children. Theda was a lifelong member of Home Missionary Baptist Church where she has attended for the past 50 years. She lived in Kentucky until 1957 when her dad found work in Flint, Michigan, at AC Spark Plug. One of Theda’s favorite memories was her trip to California by rail, with her sister, Paulette and brother-in-law. In her younger years, Theda enjoyed going on trips to Cedar Point, where her favorite ride was “The Cedar Downs.” She often enjoyed cooking, and bowling on the church league. She enjoyed traveling to Mackinaw Island and Tahquamenon Falls, as well as attending car shows in Frankenmuth. In her free time, Theda enjoyed shopping and watching Gone with the Wind, Little House on the Prairie, and Dr. Zhivago. Every day was a gift from God. She loved her family with her whole heart and will be greatly missed.
Theda’s family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Chelsea, Mickey, and Pastor Rex, from Heart to Heart Hospice, Dr. Rizwan Danish and Dr. Paul Kocheral, the staff at the Hurley/Genesys Cancer Institute, and the wonderful Pastor at Home Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Matt Rowland and Pastor Dan Gordon.
