JoAnn was born in Flint on March 18, 1958, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey and Beatrice (Tregilgas) Newcombe. Educated locally, she attended Clio High School. On December 11, 1976, JoAnn married the love of her life, Thomas Leineke. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children. Sadly, he preceded her in death on August 9, 2017. JoAnn worked as a secretary for Phillips and Phillips until her retirement in 2017. Although she was a simple lady, JoAnn was known as the life of the party and was so fun to be around. She enjoyed dancing and listening to music, especially classic rock. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time playing BINGO or going to Soaring Eagle Casino. JoAnn was always up for a good road trip. Whether that was traveling to Oscoda or just driving, as long as she was with her family, she was happy. She also enjoyed taking her family on many vacations throughout the years. Her new favorite pastime was birdwatching. She could look at them for hours. In her free time, she loved to watch ID TV or the movie “The Shack,” or read a good book by Stephen King or Dean Koontz. Above all else, she loved her grandchildren! She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and she will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish JoAnn's memory are her children: TJ Leineke and fiancée, Shanda, Melodie Leineke and fiancé, Jerry; grandchildren: Austin, Elexis (Savionn), Zack (Liz), Jacob (Hannah), Kaylee (Bri), Brianna, Marissa (Ky), Katrina (Brendan), Nathan (Bree), Jimmy (Cass), Peyton, Kadyn, Eastyn; 10 great-grandchildren: siblings: Debby and husband, Ron Compton, Dan and wife, Sandy Newcombe, Stephanie and Wayne Nelson; brother-in-law, Tim Gleffe; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 41 years, Thomas; and sister, Teresa Gleffe.
