Obituary of Betty Marie Schafsnitz
Age 89, of Mt. Morris, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Altercare Thornville in Ohio. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Betty’s family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Betty was born in Ironton, Ohio, on June 19, 1933, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Julia (Doty) Turner. Betty attended Southpoint High School and graduated with the Class of 1951. Betty was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed just sitting for hours watching them outside her windows. She also had a love for all dogs and has always had at least one in her home. Betty loved flowers, and her favorite was red roses, which she often had in and around her home. Playing word games on her phone or writing down a word and making as many words from that word as she could, was her favorite pastime. She was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed collecting as many items as she could. Along with listening to music, Betty also enjoyed dancing. She loved spending time with and caring for her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Betty's memory are her eight children: John and wife, Rhonda Schafsnitz, Bobbie LeRoy, Steve Schafsnitz, Tim Schafsnitz, Larry Schafsnitz, Vic and wife, Cheryl Schafsnitz, Cindy and husband, Barry Keen, Christi and husband, Gary Hamm; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Judy and Jane; son-in-law, Bill LeRoy; great-grandson, Andrew.
