Obituary of James Ivan Miller
Age 85, of Mt. Morris, Michigan, passed away on March 21, 2023, peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on April 1, 2023, at Fellowship Baptist Church, Clio. Pastor Bill Christensen of Trinity Assembly of God will be officiating, joined by Pastor Darrel Manning of Fellowship Baptist Church. Visitation will take place at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. On Saturday morning, Jim will be taken to Fellowship Baptist Church in Clio to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral at 12:00 noon; a graveside service will follow the funeral at Flint Memorial Park. Jim was born in Midland, Michigan, on April 1, 1937. He graduated from Merrill High School, with the class of 1956. In 1964 he started his career with General Motors as a factory worker and continued working for GM until he retired. He married Constance “Connie” Walter on October 25, 1958. Throughout their 63-year marriage, they had 3 children, Brenda, David, and Karen. They also raised their granddaughter, Katrina, after Brenda’s passing in 1992. Jim was a fun-loving outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, exercise, pranks, and lots of laughter. He was always young at heart and jumped at any opportunity to let his silly side shine with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Jim was also a committed man of faith, a lifelong lover of Jesus, and a whole-hearted worshipper devoted to the reading of the Word of God and to prayer. He deeply enjoyed sharing his love for Jesus with others through music and evangelism.
Jim is survived by his wife, Connie Miller; children: David (Sandy) Miller and Karen (Clayton) Williams; grandchildren: Katrina (Mitchell) Wood, Arianna (Zackary) Todero, and Brianna Moss; and great-grandchildren: Joel Wood, Levi Wood, Samuel Wood, and Autumn Wood and his many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Bertha (Yoder) Miller; his daughter: Brenda (Miller) Faust. brothers: Delton Miller, Willis Miller, Duane Miller, Glenn Miller, Charles Miller, Hubert Miller, and Lynn Miller.
